Week at the Lake

We just got back from our week at the lake with my family. This year we started calling our gathering a reunion which is funny in some ways because I've always associated reunions w/ large extended-family gatherings. I don't know if it's because there is now a grandchild or if we are kind of spread-out and true gatherings happen infrequently (Dev & Laris are in Portland and Leah & Trav were in Uganda, are temporarily in Spokane, and are soon on their way to Orange County). Needless to say, time together as the 10 of us is precious. It always seems to go by too fast!

Just a few highlights from the week included...
*Getting to go on some runs & bike rides + taking some naps while aunts & uncles or Mema/Popsie (yes, these are the names my parents have chosen for Clara to call them:)) watched Clara.
*Dressing Clara in her two new swimsuits. The girl is getting chubbier by the day!
*Taking a hike and seeing our first BEAR in the wild. Jonathan took this picture with Clara in the front-pack. We got kind of close before it started grunting and we were reminded that we were in the wild, not in a zoo!
*Celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary by going out for a nice dinner at Hill's Resort.
*Cutting Jono & Ethan's hair.
*Playing every sort of game/sport possible (soccer, golfing off the dock, home run derby, volleyball, tennis at Hills) and being reminded of how out-of-control our family can be when we get together and start competing:). This is just one of the boys setting up for golf.
*Witnessing lots of smiles, including these in the 4th of July outfit.
*Watching the firework display at Hill's Resort.
*Watching Clara experience the Priest Lake cold water for the first time. As you can see from the series of pictures, she did not like it (and I had a hard time watching it too - although you can tell Jonathan got a kick out of it:)).

Great pictures amy!! Gotta love priest lake, you are so lucky to have the memories growing up there, and now passing it on to Clara! Funny we too call our gatherings "reunions" now, I guess the bigger the immediate family gets that's how it goes ;)

I love the way you write & share life--- what fantastic memories you guys have built as a family spending time at Priest together, and now carrying on the legacy despite how much our lives change once we move away from home, get married, change jobs, have babies, ect. Love your pics!!! And that one of Clara asleep on Leah is precious as can be! And look at her adorable, big smile!!! Oh, she is so dang darling and such a beautiful mix of you both. Really, it's like, she is all you, and yet all Jonathan at the same time. :) Love you three so much --- and CONGRATULATIONS on your 6th anniversary!!!! Big hugs,

she is so stinkin' cute! i love the pictures of her experiencing the lake. poor girl is going to now have a fear of lakes ;). the picture of jonothan laughing and then you holding her with such sadness and concern on your face is so perfect- typical man/woman reactions!
